Is Physician's Choice Third-Party Tested? How Every Lot Is Tested, and What Else Is Inside

Yes, for select testing. We test every lot of our products, including for four heavy metals. Testing is performed by our contract manufacturers' in-house ISO/IEC 17025-accredited labs and, for select testing, independent third-party labs, primarily Eurofins.

For fillers, read the Other ingredients line on the label. On 60 Billion Probiotic it lists the vegetable capsule plus 4 more: rice flour, rice hull concentrate, gum arabic and sunflower oil.

  • Heavy metals: our Quality & Testing page names the four as lead, mercury, cadmium and arsenic.
  • Third-party labs: used for select testing, so not every test is a third-party test.
  • Other ingredients: shown word for word for four products in the table below, so you can judge them yourself.

By the Physician's Choice Team. Updated October 9, 2026. Ingredient lines are from each product's Supplement Facts, as shown on its product page.

How every lot is tested

We test every lot of our products, including for four heavy metals. Testing is performed by our contract manufacturers' in-house ISO/IEC 17025-accredited labs and, for select testing, independent third-party labs, primarily Eurofins.

So not every test is a third-party test. The independent labs handle select testing.

What ISO/IEC 17025 means

ISO/IEC 17025 is an international standard that sets management and technical requirements for testing and calibration laboratories. Several accreditation bodies assess labs against it. In the United States, one of them is the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST), through its National Voluntary Laboratory Accreditation Program. NIST accredits labs based on their technical qualifications and competence to carry out specific tests, and its program is open to manufacturers' in-house laboratories as well as commercial ones. NIST describes its accreditation as a finding of laboratory competence.

What the testing covers

Our Quality & Testing page lists five types of tests. Which ones apply depends on the product.

Test What it checks
Identity testing That ingredients and finished products are what they claim to be
Potency testing That active ingredients meet established specifications and label claims
Probiotic enumeration Probiotic levels in applicable formulas, against their CFU count specifications
Microbial testing Finished products, for harmful microorganisms
Heavy metal testing Lead, mercury, cadmium and arsenic

The same page lists analytical methods, including ICP-MS for heavy metal analysis and HPLC for potency and purity testing, and notes that testing methods vary by facility and product.

Six stages of quality control

Testing is one part of a wider process. Our Quality & Testing page describes six stages that every product routinely goes through:

  1. Raw material qualification. Every supplier is qualified, and each raw material is checked against our purity and potency specifications before production.
  2. Incoming raw material testing. Identity testing before weigh-up and blending, to confirm that what arrived is what was ordered.
  3. In-process checks. Routine checks during manufacturing. Depending on the product, these may include weight or fill, pH, moisture, seal integrity and visual checks.
  4. Finished product testing. Each batch is tested against its quality specifications. Depending on the product, this may include identity, potency, purity and microbiological quality.
  5. Retain inspections. Retained samples from every batch are inspected for appearance, color, odor and texture.
  6. Stability testing. Ongoing studies under recommended storage conditions, to set and verify shelf life.

Where our products are made

All of our manufacturers are required to operate in FDA-registered facilities that comply with FDA's current good manufacturing practice (cGMP) requirements.

FDA regulations require supplement manufacturers to follow current good manufacturing practices (cGMPs) to help ensure their products meet standards for identity, purity, quality, strength, and composition.

For what the agency does and does not do, see the FDA's own overview, FDA 101: Dietary Supplements.

Without fillers? What else is inside each product

Here is the Other ingredients line from four of our labels, word for word, next to what the Supplement Facts panel above it lists. Read it and decide for yourself.

From each product's Supplement Facts, as shown on its product page on October 9, 2026
Product Serving Supplement Facts panel, per serving Other ingredients, as printed
60 Billion Probiotic 1 capsule Probiotic Blend 220 mg (60 billion CFU, 10 strains); Prebiotic Blend 150 mg Vegetable capsule (hypromellose, gellan gum), rice flour, rice hull concentrate, gum arabic, and sunflower oil.
Digestive Enzymes 1 capsule Prebiotic and Probiotic Blend 159 mg; Herbal Blend 150 mg; Digestive Enzyme Blend 85 mg (16 enzymes) Vegetable capsule (hypromellose), rice flour, rice hull concentrate, gum arabic, and sunflower oil.
Vaginal Probiotic 1 capsule Organic Acacia Fiber 150 mg; Organic Cranberry (Fruit) Extract 75 mg; Vaginal Probiotic Blend 70 mg (6 billion CFU, 3 strains); Deglycyrrhizinated Licorice Root Extract 50 mg Vegetable capsule (hypromellose, gellan gum), rice flour, rice hull concentrate, gum arabic, and sunflower oil.
Fiber Gummies 2 gummies Dietary fiber 5 g; 0 g added sugars Chicory root fiber, pectin, tapioca starch, agar agar, natural flavor, citric acid, trisodium citrate, black carrot (for color), and carnauba wax.

The three capsule products share the same short list after the capsule: rice flour, rice hull concentrate, gum arabic and sunflower oil. On the Fiber Gummies label, chicory root fiber is the first item under Other ingredients, and the panel above it lists 5 g of dietary fiber per 2 gummies. Our Ingredient Sourcing page says that when colors are in a formula, they come from natural sources. In Fiber Gummies, that is black carrot.
